[latitude]
the distance north or south of the equator (=the imaginary line around the middle of the world), measured in degrees
(LDOCE)

The latitude of a place is its distance from the equator. Compare longitude.
(COBUILD)

[longitude]
the distance east or west of a particular meridian (=imaginary line along the Earth’s surface from the North Pole to the South Pole), measured in degrees
(LDOCE)

The longitude of a place is its distance to the west or east of a line passing through Greenwich. Compare latitude.
(COBUILD)

[latitude]
freedom to choose what you do or say
(LDOCE)

Latitude is freedom to choose the way in which you do something.
(COBUILD)
