よくテレビなんかで見かける合図ですね、これ。
簡単に「Q」と書くようですが、実際には cue です。
ちょっと英英辞典で見てみましょう。

今日、これを取り上げたのは、もともとメールマガジンで「ビリヤード」を取り上げたからですが、ビリヤードで使うキューももちろん英英辞典に出ています。
ビリヤードの説明文の中では、カッコでlong sticksと説明されていただけでしたから、ここでちょっと見ておきましょう。

pool も「プールバー」なんていいますから、おわかりだと思います。

ビリヤードは、このスヌーカーから派生したゲームだそうです。
赤玉を15個、それに他の色の玉をいくつか使うそうで、イギリスでは人気のゲームらしいです。
ま、いずれにしても cue は「玉突きゲーム」で使うスティックのことですね。
